NEWSWATCH 17

"Newswatch 17" was a live television news show that aired every Thursday afternoon during the first half of 2008. Each week I would report and edit a package for the show. In addition to those weekly packages, I would also shoot and write a couple of Voice Over-Sound On Tapes each week. At one point, I served as the producer for the show. I also served as an assistant to the producer on various episodes. On select occasions I would anchor the broadcast. During the Fall of 2007, I served as a reporter for another news show, "Plattsburgh Now".

WARP AND WQKE

I served as a Radio Disc Jockey at both stations during my time at Plattsburgh State University. I was in the news department of WQKE where I would anchor a weekly news show that was broadcast on Sundays. As anchors for this show, we would write all the content of the stories that we used.

PLATTSBURGH STATE TELEVISION

While I was a production assistant at Plattsburgh State Television, I worked in both the audio, camera and tape deck operator departments. For live sports shows, I worked as a videographer and also as an audio technician. I also served as a tape operator for a weekly news show.

OTHER ACTIVITIES AT PLATTSBURGH STATE

I was a teaching assistant in the Spring of 2007 for a class about broadcasting laws and regulations. I served as a tutor to all the students in the class while assisting the teacher in writing exams. I have also taken courses on media ethics, multimedia web design, print journalism writing, a media critque class, and many other courses.

PRODUCTION AND COMPUTER TRAINING

I have significant training in using Sony Digital Video Cameras and Linear Editing Consoles. I have also trained other people in using the equipment. I have computer training in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Flash, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Audition, Adobe InDesign, as well as both Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007. I know XHTML, CSS, C++, and Java.

AWARDS

I was on the Dean's List in the Fall of 2006; during that semester I maintained a Grade Point Average of 3.54. I was also on the dean's list in the Spring of 2008; during that semester I maintained a Grade Point Average of 3.83. During those semesters I was taking classes mostly related to Broadcast Journalism. That semester, I also recieved the Most Outstanding Student award for both research papers as well as my input to classroom discussions in the topic of Media and Popular Culture. In the Spring of 2008, I received an award for being the most involved Disc Jockey at the campus radio station, WARP. I received this award because I trained the news directors on how to write news in the broadcast style. Also in the Spring of 2008, I was a member of the Plattsburgh State Television Sales Team. I wanted to try and learn more about the other side of broadcasting, which is the reason that I took that class. I received the award because the sales team that I was on was the most active sales team to date. I also recived "DJ of the Week" awards from WQKE for being an active part of the station.
